Statement regarding Trago Falmouth store
The Board are pleased to announce that despite speculation of complete store closure, that by working closely with our fabulous store team we have found a formula which we hope will continue to serve the local community whilst retaining the most jobs possible. These changes will sadly see 10 colleagues leaving us through redundancy together with the rationalisation of the range and closure of 2 departments which are no longer commercially viable, given weak footfall in the high street.
The Board continue to explore all options to achieve a return to profitability which may require further changes.
Our thanks go out to the many messages of support and compassion over the past month and, for now, our clear message and plea to an (at least in part) adoring public is…if you want a Trago presence in Falmouth, PLEASE USE US!
Statement Regarding the Closure of The Keg and Kettle, Trago Liskeard
It is with regret that we confirm the forthcoming closure of The Keg and Kettle restaurant at Trago. Following a period of consultation, the decision has been made that it is no longer viable for the restaurant to continue trading.
We are pleased to confirm that, as a result of the consultation process, the majority of staff have been successfully relocated to other areas of the business, with only 2 redundancies having had to be made. We are grateful to all colleagues for their dedication and understanding throughout this process.
The Keg and Kettle’s final day of trading will be 22nd December 2025. We recognise that this will be sad news for many customers and staff alike, and we would like to thank everyone who has supported the restaurant over the years.
Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce a new in-store coffee shop, Mill & Grind, opening on 3rd January 2026. Mill + Grind will offer a welcoming space for customers to enjoy tea, coffee, cakes, sandwiches, paninis, and more.
While it is never an easy decision to close a much-loved venue, we believe this change will allow us to continue offering a great experience for our customers in a way that is sustainable for the future.
Statement Regarding the Closure of the Staple Hill Restaurant Complex, Trago Newton Abbot
It is with great regret that we confirm the closure of the Staple Hill Restaurant Complex at Trago Newton Abbot. This decision follows a period of consultation and has been made with careful consideration of the long-term viability of the operation.
Where possible, colleagues have been relocated to other areas of the business; however, we regret that this process will see 7 valued colleagues leaving us through redundancy. We would like to thank all affected staff for their hard work and commitment, and we will continue to offer support to those impacted.
The Staple Hill Restaurant Complex will cease trading on 31st December 2025. We recognise that this will be disappointing news for both our customers and colleagues, and we sincerely thank everyone who has supported the restaurant over the years.
We would like to reassure customers that the Riverside Retreat coffee shop will continue to trade and will be enhanced to offer additional seating and a wider choice of food and drink. Customers will still be able to enjoy tea, coffee, cakes, sandwiches, paninis, and more in a welcoming environment.
While this has been a difficult decision, it enables us to focus on providing a sustainable and improved offering for our customers going forward.
Statement on the Closure of Trago Leisure Park, Newton Abbot
Following a period of consultation, it is with deep regret that we confirm the closure of Trago Leisure Park in Newton Abbot. After careful consideration, the business is no longer financially viable in its current form.
Sadly, this decision results in the redundancy of 5 members of staff. We would like to thank them sincerely for their hard work, dedication, and contribution to the park, and we are committed to supporting them through this difficult transition.
The Steam Railway will remain open while we actively explore sustainable options to enable it to continue operating in the future. We recognise its importance to visitors and the local community and will provide further updates as plans progress.
We would like to thank our customers and the wider community for their support over the years.
